Craftsmanship is top notch. The hang looks perfect and the quality of the grain on the handle is A+. Could be a smidge thinner, which I’ll likely do to fine tune the handle. The sharpening is perfect! Haven’t measured the degrees of the grind but looks under 25 degrees. 24 inch handle length seemed a good compromise given my other set ups, and I figured it’ll get better at light splitting as the edge moves back over many many sharpenings. The grind is mostly flat, no observable convex but it’s it thick and will likely chop well. The sheath is made of thick, high quality leather, and looks like it’ll last a long time. Excited to use it soon. Shipping was a little slow, but packaging was also top notch to keep the axe from getting damaged. Otherwise great tool and look forward to passing it down.

As a UPS driver that understands the importance of proper packing and utilizing quality boxes Hoffman knocked it out of the park with the packing peanuts and uline box rated at the correct crush rating. Overall presentation amd unboxing is exactly what I'd expect from a handmade premium product and left me quite satisfied having spent a good chunk of change. The booklet and sticker was a nice touch. If you're on the fence about spending the extra $$ on the leather strike guard - do it! Well worth it and completes the overall look and smells great. Can't wait to see how the leather breaks in and ages over years of hard use. Right out of the box this axe is stupid sharp and ready to get to work. Performance was exactly what you'd need for a splitter. Good bite but also releases with ease and well balanced - love it.

Aside from the hickory grain running perpendicular to the swing axis (which I learned has very little effect on a short 15 inch lightweight hatchet). The hand forged axe head is perfectly hung with superb fit and finish (10 out of 10) using contrasting dark [walnut] wedge which is a near-perfect match for the embossed leather mask, assembled with brass hardware. I immediately treated the handle end grain with pure Tung oil and the blade with Wicked Wax. The edge grain of the mask got a bead of selle anatomica Saddle Sauce to seal the grain. While I do plan on using this finely crafted tool around camp as well as in the mountains, I expect it to easily outlast me in this world. I hope whoever possesses it far, far in the future will appreciate this near-perfect survival/wilderness companion.

Extremely impressed with the quality of the construction and workmanship of the Wood Bullet! The head fitment is absolutely solid. No gaps, no wiggle, just done right! The Hickory handle is smooth! And the palm swell fits up to the hand comfortably. The forging is everything Buckin Billy Ray said it would be. You can tell that it was made by a true artisan. This axe is almost to beautiful to use.
I have not swung the Wood Bullet yet do to health reasons, but in four weeks I plan on putting her through her paces. I have no doubt that when I do, because of how much skill and passion for quality workmanship is poured in to this axe, it will preform as designed for generations! Purchased 2.25 axe head. Already hung it and it looks awesome. Expensive but worth it I think. The hardened pull is a nice feature. This axe is incredibly sharp out of the box. I am sure it will chop fast and easy, looking forward to using it.
