This is a truly special and unique axe

This is a truly special and unique axe. I have been a blade and ax connoisseur for over 20 years with over a dozen high-end axes in my collection that I periodically switch out when I am processing firewood for my Homestead.

This “Wood Bullet” Axe stands out from the rest with its late 19th century design that is all but gone in modern offerings, this pattern head is a especially effective & time tested from when it’s user relied on a proven design in order to heat their home properly.

I had my axe stamped with the date of manufacturer so I can look back and remember when I waited over 18 months to receive this amazing wood bullet axe.

Worth the investment if you enjoy / need to process firewood with a tool that will last a lifetime & beyond.

Truly A Work Of Art

Received my bullet after patiently waiting. All I can say is this ax is a work of art that is also supremely functional. Hoffman Blacksmithing are truly artists and while I expected quality, this ax blew me away. Better get one while you can!!!!

Wood Bullet performance

I just had a chance to try out my new wood bullet. I am very impressed with the workmanship and quality of the axe. I need a splitting axe to break down large rounds of Red Oak, Hickory. Wild Cherry and Walnut so I am able to pick them up to split them on my hydraulic splitter. Many of these rounds are 24 inches in diameter and first must be split with socket wedges and a sledge hammer. Unfortunately the wood bullet is not up to this task. The head is not heavy enough nor is the handle ridged enough to power through this tough wood. I am using an Adler Super Splitter maul with a 6.2 pound head and a thick ridged handle to get the job done.
Please don't take this as a negative review the Wood Bullet is just not the proper tool for the job I am doing, and I am sure it preforms well in smaller softer straight grain woods. I will be giving 5 stars for the quality and craftsmanship of the Wood Bullet.
Best Regards, Craig Collins

Miss the NC stamp

I know Liam moved his operation, but as a Tar Heel I liked the NC ID

Comparing the fit/finish of this hatchet to one of the earlier original camp axes that has the more forged hammer rough finish, which I think is cool, but did take 15 months to get. This handle is not as well hung (space at top from of eye) and the grain has runout. It’s a hatchet so should be okay.

The new sheath is great. Very, very sharp out of the box. The certificate of authenticity is a nice touch.

A tool I will enjoy using every time I reach for it.

A tool I will enjoy using every time I reach for it. I sold a Swedish forest axe, a big knife and a tomahawk and replaced all three with this one small axe and it will do more because of the hardened poll.
All things considered the Mountaineer is a bargain and my son will enjoy it after me, his after him. Thanks Liam

Great design

Build quality is excellent, and I love the design on this. It's small enough to take backpacking, but can still get some work done. The wider blade and the handle contour make it feel like a bigger axe.

The weight distribution of this axe makes it a breeze to work with

The weight distribution of this axe makes it a breeze to work with. It is constructed with all aspects of interest made to perfection for use and longevity.I feel the hatchet is going to last me my lifetime and maybe even my child’s.
Great tool and absolutely phenomenal craftsmanship and design for ease of use.

Amazing

Amazing product!

A message from one Hoffman Family to The Hoffman Blacksmithing Family

Everything we have purchased from Hoffman Blacksmithing has been of the finest quality and workmanship through and through. At the end of the day, after first wearing the belt, I tossed my other belts back into my closet. Thank you for making such “last a lifetime products.” With Love, the Hoffman family living up in the Green Mountains.

This is the first axe that promted me to order another one just to be a wall hanger.....

I have not used the Hoffman Farm Axe to cut down a tree yet, but, based on some test swings on a fresh stump, the feel of the axe and the bite into the trunk felt smooth, pleasantly solid, and very, very efficient.

Thae edege angle and profile surprised me the most while splitting chunks of firewood logs from the sides of the logs (rather than from the ends while standing up). Somehow, the heft of the head, in conjunction with the profile, accomplish this task with ease. The farm axe released easily when it bite into the logs and it only takes a few swings to fully half them. I am still learning the feel of the axe as to be more efficient while not over swinging it.

This axe is a beauty to behold. The 28 straight handle suits my swing and the crowded woods that I'm cutting in. The thin handle...... I just love this thin handle..... The bulb end fits in my palm perfectly while giving the handle a refined look. Oiling the handle is the only task needed to get this axe work ready.

Feels great, works gret, and looks great......This is the first axe that promted me to order another one just to be a wall hanger.....

A beautiful piece of work!

A beautiful piece of work!

The complete package was beautifully crafted, from the forging, to the handle, to the mask.

It cuts like a laser beam!

Well done, Hoffman.

Everything I had hoped and more

Everything I had hoped and more. It actually fit the bill of what I’ve been looking for perfectly. Got the 19” octagonal handle and I absolutely love it. Ergos are spot on and reminiscent of a vintage handle shape. Great work, would recommend highly.
