Mountaineer Axe Head
The Mountaineer's compact 1.5 pound head with it's bearded blade and hammer head poll bring great versatility to the table. The bearded blade allows choking up behind the edge, providing greater control for finer tasks like making fire starter or even food prep. The beard also provides for a wider blade on a lighter head. A hardened hammerhead makes this axe balanced and more suitable for hammering nails, posts, pegs, and stakes than other axes in its same weight class, like our Mini Camper. Optionally, you can choose to add a custom leather sheath below.

Featuring the standard LH logo stamp on the right side, this axe also has a ‘M’ logo on the left side of the axe, signifying both the Makers who will have the experience of hanging your Hoffman Axe on a handle of your choosing, and the Blue Ridge Mountains where it was forged.
One of a kind
All of our axes are hand forged, and one of a kind like a fingerprint. The axe head you receive may vary in texture from the pictured axe. If you notice a black line or “stretching” near the eye of your axe this is completely normal, and a part of the hand forging process of the eye.
