The 2.5 pound Fireman Hatchet is most commonly used on crash sites and built for versatility as a one, or two-handed axe capable of being worn on the hip in a leather belt holster. The hardened spike end penetrates through hard construction and vehicle materials with minimal wear. Each axe head is adequately secured with a 5/16" roll-pin through the side of the axe as a failsafe. You have the option of either a 19" or 24" handle in an oval or octagonal cross-section. The octagonal is recommended since these axes are primarily used with gloves. Additionally, you can add phantom bevels to the top and bottom of the blade to aid in easier penetration and easier removal from sheet metal and other construction materials. Firemen have tested these axes to ensure that our axes can dependably perform in life-saving situations.
