KHOPESH COLLAB
Ever wondered what a collaboration would look like between Alec Steele and myself, Liam Hoffman? Here's the culmination of many man hours across continents to create a modern take on the Egyptian Khopesh sword. The expertly forged intricate Damascus steel, and all of the blade forging was done by Alec Steele in the U.K. The unique shape of the sword creates an array of challenges which can only be overcome by an advanced skill set in forging.
The grinding, heat treat, handle, and finish work was done by myself. This sword presented many difficulties, especially in grinding. Nearly every edge on this sword is sharpened, not that we hope it would be used today! The sword produces a brilliant glimmer and shine when seen in sunlight, highlighting the hours that were put into finishing the damascus steel blade. This is a truly one of a kind piece.
Specs - The full integral handle features an heirloom fitted Gaboon Ebony grip, with mother of pearl inlay and raised bronze pins. The damascus steel is comprised of 1080 and 15N20 high carbon steel, forge welded into a solid billet. The overall length of this sword is 24 inches, with a 19 inch blade length.
