The Saddle Axe head weighs 2.25lbs, and is hung on a 19 inch or 28 inch hickory handle in either octagonal or oval cross section. Double bit axes give you two blades in one, as well as a balanced swing. For example, it’s wise to save one of your blades for finer cutting work, while sacrificing the other for grub work near the ground where edge damage is likely.
