The Hawksbill axe got it’s name from its maiden voyage near Hawksbill mountain in the Linville Gorge Wilderness area where it was tested during our travels down the gorge. This compact double bladed axe has a head weigh of 1.5lbs and lends its-self well to hiking, camping, and home use around the yard. This axe is not only more balanced than a single bladed axe due to it’s symmetry, but it also allows you to use one blade for closer ground and grub work where the edge may get dinged up, while the other side remains sharp for limbing and whittling. As an upgrade, we do offer the option of a belt carry style sheath for this axe to conveniently attach to your hip or pack.
