Our axes are hand forged from a block of 4142 chrome/moly alloy steel in the Blue Ridge mountains on the Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee line and heat treated to 55.5 HRC. The heads are hung on straight grained hickory handles made from cabinet grade kiln dried lumber. Each handle is hand fitted with a drawknife. The poll is hardened to be used as a proper hammer.

The splitting axe of our era: The Wood Bullet. Designed through decades of extensive tree-cutting and wood-splitting experience by Buckin' Billy Ray Smith, and forged to exacting standards by Liam Hoffman and team. We are thrilled to bring this axe to life and offer this design to you.

Weighing in at a hefty 5 pounds, the Wood Bullet is the heaviest axe in our current lineup. Everything from the geometry of the head to the palm swell on the premium 31" hickory handle was designed and built from the ground up with wood splitting in mind. You'll wear out before this axe ever does.

Sheaths are hand made with thick vegetable tanned water buffalo leather. 100% made in house. Overbuilt and ready to use, because overkill never fails.
